It's about that time again...

PCS (permanent change of station) --- for those who doesn't know my husband is in the US Navy. Hubby got orders/deploying to mideast for 1 year, unaccompanied. My daughter & I are staying with my family in Hawaii until next year or whenever my husband comes back. I won't have that much time to post and visit your sites, Sorry!! I promise to get back to all of you guys as soon as I get settled back in Hawaii. Give me 2-3 weeks pramis =) I'm really busy and stress with all the packing right now. It's our nth time to move, been moving all over the States even before husband joined the Navy. It's been only 4 years, tough & rough 4 years of military life. 2 deployments and countless underways. We'll find out in a couple of months for our next orders - Shore duty, Yeah!

We are going to Pirate's Dinner (early birthday dinner for hubby) in Buena Park tomorrow. And spend the rest of the weekend in Anaheim. We are staying at my friends house, they live 5 min drive to Disneyland. Good thing because hotels/motels are expensive around Disney area, that's a lot of savings. We are just spending all the time with 'Daddy'..... Argh I hate deployments..... One, I hate it coz he'll be away from us...again and Two, I'm a CRY BABY!!!
Hope this blogging will keep me busy....

Post ako mga stories & pictures whenever I find time, bisita pa rin kayo dito though =)

Reagan CSG to aid Philippines typhoon relief
By Gidget Fuentes - Staff writerPosted : Wednesday Jun 25, 2008 19:03:11 EDT

SAN DIEGO — About 6,000 sailors on six ships, led by the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, are assisting with humanitarian relief operations in typhoon-ravaged Philippines, Navy officials said Wednesday.
President Bush on Tuesday ordered the San Diego-based carrier strike group to deploy to the waters off Iloilo, a city in central Philippines south of Manila. The Reagan strike group includes the guided missile cruiser Chancellorsville, guided missile destroyers Decatur, Howard and Gridley, and guided missile frigate Thach.
Typhoon Fengshen struck the northern Philippines, where strong seas overturned a ferry, killing several hundred people aboard. Fengshen then headed to Taiwan and China as a tropical storm.

My husband's ship (USS Peleliu) was in the Philippines around this time last year for a month in a Humanitarian mission...
I took this picture on May 4th as the ship leaves again for a scheduled WesPac

Most Expensive Gas

June 11th - pic was taken at 32nd St. - 10 cents cheaper than the average - only with Military ID are allowed in this gas station. $4.34/gallon

June 18th - pic was taken at Mira Mesa Blvd.
$4.59/gallon

June 23rd - at Coronado - which I think the most expensive gas that i've seen, my gulay! $4.89/gallon for regular.

$55 to fill up my tank yesterday for $4.39/gallon. This is ridiculous!

Bloggers

Training helps bloggers hone professionalism

By CARYN ROUSSEAU, Associated Press Writer
Sat Jun 14, 4:34 AM ET

Miami real estate agent Lucas Lechuga began blogging to share his knowledge of the local market. He didn't bargain for a $25 million defamation lawsuit when he wrote that a Miami developer had gone bankrupt decades ago.

In Lake Geneva, Wis., commodities trader Gary Millitte registered the Internet domain name LakeGenevaNews.com eight years ago, but is so worried about the legal boundaries of writing online that he still hasn't started the ultra-local news site.
Non-journalists entering the world of blogs, online feedback forums, online videos and news Web sites provide information that newspapers and other media can't or don't. But many are now turning to professional journalists for help with dilemmas they're facing: When is something libelous? What's the difference between opinion and news? And how do you find public documents?

Let me brag about our Daddy...

Winter is very blessed to have Whedy as her daddy
He had sacrifice a lot of his time being away from Winter to serve in the USN for our freedom.
Whevener he is home, he loves to spend time with our daughter. He plays the guitar and they sing together. They both love to read books. And the list can go on...He is a good provider and a very responsible Father.

As Winter always say:

"Daddy is the Best...Ever!"

3 movies...

so far for this month. It's been a while that we haven't watch a movie this often. Before Winter was born we go to the movies almost every weekend. Good thing i have a cousin that lives here in San Diego too and she offers to babysit Winter especially if there's a have to see movie. Ahh I just don't like the idea of those parent's night out thing. The My Gym that she goes to every Friday offers "Parent's night out" for $30/3 hours. Uhmm not only that i'm kuripot but i'd rather watch a movie with Winter or find something else that we can do as a family. (nagdahilan pa eh, sige na nga kuripot talaga ako, haha!)

The 1st movie Winter ever saw in the theater was Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!
Photobucket
She was good, watched the movie the whole time. Maybe because she's familiar with Dr. Seuss', she have most of the books and my husband's ultimate favorite.

3 movies in 11 days...

1. Iron man - 8.2/10

Photobucket
I like this movie, can't wait for the sequel....

2. Kung Fu Panda - 8.1/10

Photobucket
I think it's funny, i was laughing through out the movie. We enjoyed watching it.
Photobucket

Narnia was good too, it was just toooo long. Winter stayed up and this picture below was taken on the way out from the theater and she's wide awake at 11:30pm.

New checked bag policy?

I checked American Airlines website for any updates or information because hubby is flying to Michigan on Thurs to visit family. A friend mentioned to me that they are now charging for check in baggages. And yes they are really charging now...
I went to Hawaiianairlines.com too (for Winter & I are going back to Hawaii next month) and it's the same. The only good thing is that we purchased our tickets early this year and we won't be charged for anything yet. Hubby is good to go coz no charge for Military active duty.... well for American Airlines. I have to check other airlines too. This sucks, $25 for a 2nd checked bag? It's ridiculous, that's a lot of money!

American Airlines

Updates Regarding Checked Baggage
Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after May 12, 2008, but before June 15, 2008, may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after June 15, 2008, will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag.

Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines announced it will begin assessing a $25 fee each way for a passenger’s second checked bag between the Continental U.S. and Hawaii.
The new baggage policy applies to tickets purchased on or after May 10, 2008 for travel on or after June 10, 2008

Family Fun Day

Hubby planned today as a family fun day..it started good.
we were going to the 1130 matinee show (to save) to see Kung Fu Kids.
We got ready late so we decided to catch the following show which is at 1245.
The theater we are going don't have military discount so we have to go
on base to buy movie tickets. Hubby also bought baseball tickets (Padres vs Tigers)
for June 22nd. It will be my and our first baseball game to watch together. I still don't get all the rules for this game but i'm getting there.hehe
After the movies we went back home to get hubby's car so to head to the Goodyear store to pick up his tires and rims that he ordered. The guy said to be there at 3. So we were there 3 o'clock sharp. And we waited...and waited..and waited...it was 4:30 already and the car is still there sitting at the parking lot. Hubby was already getting irritated so he talked to the guy why he told us to be there at 3 just to be stuck there and wait. So okay, he was like it is going to be done now...So ok we waited again...patiently...

We can see the car from where we were sitting and my husband was like "so do you like the rims". I looked and i was like "eh it's okay, wait it doesn't look right". Then we realized that it's not the right one! So now i'm irritated and pissed off as well. My husband was too pissed that I can't talk to him. All he told me that he will go back in the morning to talk to the manager.

Went back home to drop off his car then we went to the Navy Exchange to return the camera i bought because i found a better one and a cheaper price. Got there and I forgot the battery charger! arghh..can this day get any better? lol

So I was like i'm not in a mood to cook anymore so let's just grab something to eat. We went to the mall and ate Panda Express. I haven't had orange chicken in a long time, it's just yummyyy. Bought me some more Bath and Body works for the fambam in Hawaii and treated myself underwear from VS. (For those who doesn't know we don't have both stores in HI).

It was an OK day, i know i shouldn't complain a lot, i should just be thankful that I get to spend this day with my family.
The movie was funny though, Winter enjoyed it. Oh and she loves popcorn with a lot of butter lol

Hope everyone's having a great weekend =)

Best Friend

RIP

Today is Miong's last day...as of this moment the cremation should be done.
I still can't believe this is real.

I was able to see him this morning through webcam. Thanks to my friends Ervin and Dex.
It was good to see friends from highschool. Armando, Marla, Lian and Tim were there still. Cynch said she was there but sleeping on the couch hehe.
Yes i got to see Miong, it was heart breaking and can't help myself but cry. He looked peaceful in his sky blue casket. I even told Ervin to wake him up, coz he's just asleep.
I really don't have any words to say but cry...it's hard to lose someone dear to you, a very good friend. I will cherish every single moment that spent with Miong. I miss him, I wish I was able to spend time with him before he left. I wish I was able to go home to see him.
When i go home, the first thing i will do is visit you and meet your wife and kids. I promise.
You will always be here in my heart Miong, I can never find a friend like you. Love You Miong!

All of my pictures are in Hawaii so I asked my sister to scan it for me. I told her to scan at least 10...and here are few of them. I will scan more when I go back to Hawaii next month.
Here are some memories with Miong...

Hockey

I started watching Hockey when me and my husband started dating in 2001.
Didn't really care at all in the beginning, but eventually loved watching every
Detroit RedWings game. My husband plays hockey and I go to his games all the time so maybe that's half of the reason why i learned to love this game. It's fun and exciting.

Last night was Game 5, Red Wings lead the series 3-1. Went to 3 OT but we lost, Peguins won. Watched the game for 5 hours! Me and my husband were both disappointed and still can't believe that we lost. Well game 6 tomorrow at Pittsburgh but I'm telling you that we will bring home the CUP! no more Game 7!

Song from Barney

Winter was watching Barney and i was uploading pictures of my friend Miong.
I was listening to the song and the lyrics then suddenly
tears suddenly fall from my eyes...
yes a song from the Barney show...

here's the lyrics...

When you lose something we love
it can be hard to let it go
learning how to say goodbye is another way we grow
no matter what happens
there’s always tomorrow
to bring in the sunshine, wash out the sorrow
the friends you can count on and people you know
you’ll feel better
when tomorrow comes

though u may feel down inside
it’s okay to let it show
feelings that you are feeling
surely come and go
no matter what happens
there’s always tomorrow
to bring in the sunshine, wash out the sorrow
the friends you can count on and people you know
you’ll feel better
when tomorrow comes….
